Is being efficient the biggest business goal?
Efficiency, as we all know, refers to the ability to achieve an end goal with little to no waste, effort or energy. In essence it means using your resources in the very best way possible; optimising your strategy, capital and results. In today’s world, it is often suggested that this has to be mixed with innovation and significant investment.
For example, Tesco opened its first checkout-free store this week, with the hope of making an easier and quicker shopping experience. It is clear that the ultimate goal here is to become more efficient; lower staff costs, a quicker turnaround of customers and ultimately an increased profit margin. It is a slightly strange thought that computers and suchlike are seemingly more efficient than humans - the future is certainly going to be a very different place!
Looking at efficiency in a different way, it has recently been announced that households are to get £5000 to replace gas boilers. This is to reduce greenhouse gases and make us all live more efficiently. Again, an investment on the face of it, but beneficial in the long run.
For JV, efficiency is one of our key goals. To be able to utilise our skills in the best possible way to get the best results for our clients. However, for us it is not necessarily all about investing, it is using our skills and energy in the right way at the right time, thinking creatively and differently. It is very important to us that we fine tune what we already do before expanding into new things. The future for us is a very exciting thing, but we want to make sure that we grow in a sustainable, efficient and manageable way.
Sunny wishes,
Jo and Vic
