Seriously spooky ways to entice your audience…
Top tips for keeping your audience engaged and interested
Quite often our own business and what we offer can begin to feel repetitive and boring. Generally speaking, what a business offers does stay the same, but the way it is portrayed can always change to ensure it is kept fresh and enticing. With social media marketing, although you obviously want to bring in new custom, it is vital to focus on retention too. Here are some of our tantalising top tips for keeping your audience captivated…
Go behind the scenes, if you dare
You may hear this a lot and think to yourself ‘who would want to see me and my office?’, but it can be so much more than that. This kind of content builds a connection with your audience. It makes them feel part of your journey and reminds them that you are much more than just a business. Whether you show them the stages of your product being made, your office pet, or simply just do a quick real-time story on Instagram, you are building valuable connections with your audience.
Create some ghastly graphics
This is an important one. Having your own images and graphics that are unique to your business will really help you stand out (see our last blog). It is also vital to ensure that what you are writing about links directly to the image, which can prove more difficult if you are constantly repurposing photos or using stock images. It is always worth reaching out to someone to create a bank of graphics for you or to take some professional photographs if you are unable to do this yourself.
Share terrifying testimonials
Reviews and testimonials are fantastic for encouraging new customers and retaining your current ones. For the new customers, they can feel assured that what you are offering is legitimate and does what it is supposed to do. For current customers, they might hear of a new way of using something or feel encouraged to try a different product/service from your range. Of course, the great reviews are the ones to share, but sometimes sharing the less positive ones and how you have overcome them or responded to them shows business transparency too.
Relating to the revolting real world
Posting about things that are currently in the news but always relating them back to your business is a great idea. Just ensure that you fact check everything you share and back up any of your opinions where you can. This shows a level of knowledge in your specific industry and encourages conversation with your audience.
Spine-chilling stories
From how your business started to ‘a day in the life of…’, people love stories. Did you know that stories actually cause real and measurable reactions in your brain? Not only this, but in a world that is surrounded by distractions, a story is far more likely to keep your audience engaged than a more generic post. It doesn’t have to be a particularly fascinating story, just something that has a clear start, middle and end.
Of course there are many, many more ways in which you can engage your audience, both on social media and beyond. If you need any advice or simply want to have a quick chat about how we might be able to help, why not get in touch on hello@jvcommunications.co.uk.
