Spreading a little bit of happiness

If you have followed JV from the start you will know that we love nothing more than happy news stories and spreading a bit of joy wherever we can.

All too often our newsfeeds and minds are filled up with the hard-to-hear news stories, which are of course important but can be a little overwhelming at times.

Here are some of our favourite recent happy news stories, we hope they will put a smile on your face!

  • Jonathan the tortoise is named the world’s oldest living land animal after recently reaching the ripe old age of 190. He was brought to the island of St Helena’s, Seychelles, in 1882 as a gift to the island’s governor. Although his age is only an educated guess, he was fully matured when he arrived on the island, making him at least 50 in that year. Jonathan has survived two world wars and predates the light bulb, the telephone and the Eiffel Tower!

  • A cheeky 8 year old boy has become a local library legend after hiding his 81-page illustrated book on the shelf at the library. When Dillon went back to look for his book he realised it had gone and later found out that several librarians and their family members had read it and loved the story! With his permission it is now a permanent part of the library’s collection and has a waiting list consisting of dozens of people.

  • Colombia’s indigenous groups are training young people to defend the Amazon Rainforest. Indigenous Amazon communities are trying their hardest to hold onto their culture and territory, therefore communities are working hard to create a new generation of leaders to help preserve and take care of the forest

Subscribing to The Happy Newspaper was one of the best things we have done. Quarterly you will receive a full sized newspaper that is full of colorful happy stories, celebrating wonderful news and wonderful people. We strongly recommend pairing this with a cuppa, a slice of cake and a cosy blanket. The newspapers are also ideal to use as wrapping paper for birthday presents!

Sunny wishes,

Jo & Vic
